| The Eastern Travel
Association is centered on the need to provide professional, quality
educational programs and seminars to our membership. Our intent is
to foster and promote professionalism within the travel industry.
As members we will make every attempt to educate the general public
of the specific products, services and destinations, which support
our industry. |
The
Eastern Travel Association was originally chartered as a non-profit
organization in 1956, and was known as the Eastern Pennsylvania Passenger
and Traffic Association. We are proud to be one of the oldest travel
organizations in the United States. We thank those eight charter members
that met informally twice a year in the Pocono Mountains and established
our foundation from humble beginnings.
In 1978 the idea of monthly dinner meetings grew out of the organization;
this format continues to be successful. It serves as the primary vehicle
to bring our membership professional, quality, educational programs
and seminars in the travel industry of today.
Our organization has true financial solvency, and the growth of our
membership has expanded to three chapters, Allentown, Harrisburg and
Wilkes Barre/Scranton. Our core membership continues to be travel
agents, however we have many suppliers, students and management members.
As we move into the new millennium our organization has the respect
of the travel industry and will continue to evolve to serve our membership.
This is demonstrated by the monthly attendance and by the quality
of the suppliers who sponsor our meetings.
We are proud of our heritage and we are well positioned for the future.
We continue to accept new members in our endeavors to perpetuate our
organization into the 21st century. Our board members are experienced
travel professionals who volunteer their time and talents to carry
forward the mission of ETA.
We stand committed to The Pursuit of Travel
Excellence through Education. |
